Enforcement of the EU AI Act Starts Today
What happened
Enforcement of the EU AI Act officially commenced on August 2, impacting companies both within and outside the EU that offer AI models or systems to EU customers. This third major wave of requirements primarily focuses on AI transparency under Article 50 and the operational market surveillance and regulatory enforcement regime. While high-risk AI system requirements are delayed until December 2, 2027, transparency obligations for generative AI are immediately applicable.
